Żywoty | Ołeh Sencow

This small book depicts the erosion of social and family relations during the collapse of the previous government. It takes a critical look at the educational and health care systems, shows empathy for the human condition, and praises what can be called righteousness or decency. Do not be silent when someone tries to humiliate another human being, especially if they are disabled, like the boy with Down syndrome in the story “Szpital” (Hospital). Although it is a story about childhood in the USSR, it also describes the daily life in Crimea and the Ukrainian province through humanistic prose.
