Tania Malarczuk
Jak zostałam świętą
In these interwoven stories, characters drift between plots, led by an all-knowing narrator who creates worlds, overturns hierarchies, and reveals hidden intrigues. Malarczuk explores the power of literature and imagination while offering sharp satire of post-Soviet life and a queer perspective on reality—playful, ironic, and deeply inventive.
The settings are as surprising as they are magical: a guesthouse that keeps growing and sometimes floods so you can paddle through it by canoe; a small town where women are spied on by a self-appointed “order committee”; and an apartment with shifting boundaries, where geysers burst from the corridor and volcanic rabbits appear. At the center is unrestrained girlish fantasy, showing how words can create entire worlds.
