Paulina Ciucka

(b. 1981, Hrubieszów) – translator, philologist, and editor. She holds a degree in Baltic Studies from the University of Warsaw and in Lithuanian Studies from Vilnius University. She translates from the Baltic languages—primarily Lithuanian—and occasionally from the Slavic ones. Her 2016 translation of Alvydas Šlepikas’s acclaimed Lithuanian novel My Name is Marytė was shortlisted for the Angelus Central European Literature Award. In 2019, she received the Poetry Spring Award, the highest honor of Lithuania’s largest poetry festival, for I Reserve the Right to Remain Silent, her own selection of poems by Eugenijus Ališanka. She works with publishing houses, cultural institutions, and the media, and has been a grantee of the Lithuanian Culture Institute, the Old Town Culture House, the Krakow Festival Office, and the Polish Ministry of Culture. She lives in Warsaw but often seeks inspiration elsewhere.
