Natalia Bryżko-Zapór | Poland

She graduated from the Institute of Slavic Studies at the University of Warsaw (1990). She started her professional career as a journalist. She was a correspondent for “Obserwator Codzienny”, “Życie Warszawy” and the Polish section of Radio Free Europe in Moscow (1991-1993). She headed the editorial office in the Polish Radio and managed regional branches of the Polish Press Agency. Later, she switched to diplomacy. She worked as a counsellor in the Polish Embassy in Kiev (2001-2005). She cooperated with Foreign Affairs Committees of the  Polish Sejm and European Parliament. Between 2013-2017 she served as the director of the Polish Institute in St. Petersburg. In 2018 she established Fundacja Partnerstwa dla Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej / Partnership Foundation for Central East Europe that operates within the field of culture and cultural heritage. She continues to publish articles about Eastern Europe and translates from Russian and Ukrainian. She has translated, among others, six books by Ukrainian and Russian authors. She is a member of the Literary Translators Association and Wolne Słowo Association.
