Yankev (Jacob) Glatstein was born in 1896 in Lublin. He immigrated to the United States in 1914, where he founded the modernist poetry group “In Zich” in New York. He was a highly respected and well-known Jewish writer who wrote in Yiddish, which is why he he was virtually unknown in Poland.
