These are books that confront the challenges of the present and the future while remaining rooted in the past\u2014in the ground that nourishes them, the historical context, the value system, or even a single nerve anchored in time and place.<\/p>\n In this post-isolation world\u2014marked by catastrophe\u2014a new sensitivity is being born. The familiar notions of what is ours, native, and known have burned out. The borders between West and East, North and South, and between national literatures and languages are once again shifting. It is time to move beyond the comfort of binary oppositions and divisions. To unlock new cultural meanings, we must embrace multiplicity and the inevitability of change\u2014to connect while moving, to flow while re-anchoring.<\/p>\n The time has come to move past narratives built on convenient oppositions and divides.
